Masika catering specialists

Masikam is the work we are known for

In the first year after losing someone, a masikam comes every month. Each one needs the right menu, cooked in madi and ready before the purohit begins.

For 18+ years, Hyderabad families have trusted Vigneshwara Caterers with exactly this. We cook the full shraddha menu for the bhoktas and the family, either in your home or in our Saroor Nagar kitchen, and we keep doing it month after month until the aabdikam.

Because the same cooks come each time, the food tastes the same every month — something elders notice, and something that brings a little steadiness to a difficult year.

Timings are approximate and practice differs between sampradayams. Your purohit fixes the exact tithi for each masikam — we cook to those dates.

Book once, and we plan the year

Most families book all their masikams in a single call. Here is how it works.

  1. Share the dates

Send us the masikam dates and tithis your purohit has given you, by call or WhatsApp.

  2. We set the calendar

Every masikam is noted with the time, the number of bhoktas and whether we cook at home or deliver.

  3. We remind you

A few days before each masikam we call to confirm the timing and any change in numbers.

  4. Same cooks, every month

The same team arrives or delivers on the day, so the food and the service never change.

Masikam is the monthly shraddha performed during the first year after a person passes away, on the tithi of their passing. Bhoktas are fed and the ritual meal is offered to the departed each month until the aabdikam.

Most Telugu Brahmin families perform sixteen — the twelve monthly masikams plus Oona masikam, Tripaksham, Oona shanmasikam and Oona abdikam. Practice varies by sampradayam, so always follow the list your purohit gives you.

Yes, and we recommend it. Send us the dates from your purohit and we plan the whole year, confirm with you a few days before each masikam and send the same cooks every time.

Yes. Masikam food is cooked without onion, garlic, tomato and other items not used in shraddha, and only with the vegetables tradition allows. Families also have their own customs, and we always follow your list.

Anything from a single bhokta to fifty guests. Most masikams are for the bhoktas and close family — often between three and fifteen people.

Tithis sometimes shift, or the purohit may change a date. Just call or WhatsApp us as early as possible and we will move your booking.
